Terms of Service

Last updated: 7 November 2025

1. About

pdfextractorai (“Service”) lets you upload documents (e.g., PDFs) and use AI to extract structured data (e.g., tables/CSV/JSON). Operated by Luis (Hobby Project), Switzerland (Free Tier - No Registered Business). Contact: contact@pdfextractorai.com.

Until our business domain and mailboxes are live (we’re preparing the Resend + Supabase approved setup), please reach us at the above contact address. We will swap in the official domain-specific emails and update this notice as soon as the verification is complete.

2. Eligibility

You must be **18 years or older** to use the Service.

You are also responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to upload any personal data contained in your documents (e.g., consent from data subjects or contractual justification). We expect all users to comply with applicable export, privacy, and copyright laws when using the Service.

3. Your Account

If you create an account, keep your credentials confidential and accurate. You are responsible for activity under your account.

4. Acceptable Use

Do not upload:

  • Illegal content or content you lack rights to process.
  • Payment card data (PCI), bank credentials, authentication secrets.
  • Special-category personal data (e.g., health, biometric, political opinions) unless you have a lawful basis and we explicitly support it.
  • Content that violates any applicable laws.
  • Outputs are generated by AI and may be **inaccurate or incomplete**. **Human review is required** before relying on results for accounting or other decisions.

Treat all generated content as a draft. Do not rely on it for legal, medical, financial, or other regulated decisions without independent verification.

    5. AI Providers & Processing

To provide extraction, we send your input files and prompts to third-party AI providers:

  • **Google Gemini (Paid Services)** and/or
  • **OpenAI API**.
  • Under their standard paid APIs, providers state that API content is **not used for product training** by default; however, limited logs may be retained for a short period for safety/abuse and legal compliance. See our **Privacy Policy** and **Subprocessors** pages for details and links.

You are responsible for having a legal basis to process any personal data in files you upload.

The full list of subprocessors, safeguards, and regional availability is maintained on our Subprocessors page, so you can verify where your data is routed.

    6. Availability and Changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue the Service or features at any time. We may update these Terms. Continued use means you accept changes.

We may schedule maintenance windows or capacity-based throttling; such events will be communicated via in-app banners or email when possible. We recommend signing up for notifications so you know when new features or safeguards roll out.

    7. Payments (if/when enabled)

Subscriptions or one-off purchases are processed by **Stripe**. Taxes, currency, and billing frequency will be shown at checkout. By purchasing, you agree to Stripe’s terms. See **Payments and Refunds** on our site for details.

Receipts, invoices, and payment disputes can be handled via Stripe or at contact@pdfextractorai.com. We do not store full card numbers—Stripe keeps card data secure and GDPR-compliant.

    8. Disclaimer

The Service and outputs are provided **“as is”** without warranties. AI outputs can include errors. We do not guarantee accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted operation.

You remain responsible for the results; do not rely on them for critical decisions without verification. We encourage keeping local backups of uploaded files before or after processing.

    9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or business, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid (if any) for the Service in the **3 months** prior to the event.

    10. Data Protection

We act as **controller** for account/billing data and as **processor** for content you upload (we process it to provide the Service). See our **Privacy Policy** for details, rights, retention, and international transfers.

Your rights (access, rectification, deletion, portability, restriction, objection) are described at pdfextractorai/privacy. Anonymous visitors can manage cookies and consent via the Consent Settings widget, and authenticated users can request a full data export or deletion through their account.

    11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or we believe your use creates risk.

If an account is terminated, we delete or anonymize account/billing data in accordance with our retention policies (see the Privacy Policy). Anonymous sessions expire automatically and are cleaned up after 30 days.

    12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland. Jurisdiction: Switzerland, Switzerland, unless mandatory consumer protection law requires otherwise.

    13. Contact & Notices

Questions about these Terms, data protection, or to report security concerns? Email contact@pdfextractorai.com or use the Contact page.

Once the domain and mailboxes are live, we will replace this placeholder address with the official support, tech, and business emails that align with Supabase/Resend recommendations.
